Can't reach most loot bags during and after the zombie massacre. (Hence a defensive "kill cage" made of concrete or steel as an option)Ģ. Those that make it to the pit will fall in and become trapped down below.ġ.

Continue mowing down the enemy until dawn. When approximately 3 spikes/wire remain (or less, if you feel comfortable/lucky), you can either try to continue placing down more from your toolbelt OR fall back to the other side of the pit, opening up the trap doors.ģ. 10-20, depending on optical attachments or player aiming skill). Place enough spikes/wire between you and the entrance (e.g. Place yourself in front of the pit first (pit is behind you) and begin mowing down the infected as they're slowed down by the spikes/barbed wire.Ģ. Although some enemies will dig towards you, the mountain is steep enough that the AI will cause MOST of them to target the wide-open tunnel entrance. (I never had to use mine since no enemy made it that far.)ġ. "Guns, guns, guns!"** and a f*ck-ton of ammo.īuild a kill cage in a room behind the pit. Spiked traps or barbed wire-anything that will slow down enemy movement towards you.ĥ. (This will prevent enemies who might fall into the pit from digging upward towards you.)Ĥ. For safety, widen the tunnel by one block on either side, and by two above you. At the bottom, dig a second tunnel in the same direction as the first, but only as far as you want your main base/room to be. Place two trap doors over the pit so you can walk across. A large, steep mountain, like the one in front of Navezgane's trader in the NW corner of the map.Ģ.

The mountain base model is definitely a viable option for blood moons on default settings.* It's also extremely simple and inexpensive to make.ġ. TL DR: Basically by over-fortifying your main entrance that you want them to attack, the current AI will just pick another direction to attack from. And this behavior is going to change in the future as the current AI is NOT the permanant AI of the zombies, zombies are merely being used as the test bed for the future bandit AI. Granted this current behavior is the intended AI for what will eventually be bandits (they're using zombies as a test bed for it).But even when zombies become dumber again, it's likely that some zombies will end up burrowing into your base from the sides or above just as a matter of course. (Also I think certain blocks like dirt and wood have a reduced HP value in zombies pathing as they seem to do extra damage to the softer materials) They dont even have to spawn up there, They'll actively walk up the mountain to dig down from above as its the weaker path to reaching you. The current AI looks for the weakest path leading to You If the total HP of the dirt/stone blocks making up the mountain+ your ceiling is less than the total HP of your undoubtedly heavily reinforced entryway, they will always try to dig down from above(or from the sides if that results in less HP.Whatever is the weakest path).
